Communicator and SmartConnect Desktop upgrade to Webex

Introducing Cisco Webex

Webex has officially replaced Communicator and SmartConnect Desktop apps. These apps will be retired on the 1st of April 2022. From this date you will no longer be able to log in to Communicator and SmartConnect Desktop.

Webex is a modern, secure and feature rich application. Webex allows you to access flexible packages that include features including softphone capabilities, video calling, chat and premium meetings that allow up to 1,000 participants in a single meeting. Best of all, you can continue to rely on us, your trusted Service Provider, to manage and support not only your calling solution, but your entire collaboration experience.

Important installation instructions:

  1. Log out of Communicator or SmartConnect Desktop

    Running both Webex and Communicator/SmartConnect Desktop at the same time can have unexpected results.

  2. Download the latest version of Webex at the official website here.

    Webex is available on Windows and mobile apps for a seamless experience wherever you are working from.

  3. Open Webex

    Your username and password to access Communicator and SmartConnect applications are the same as those used to access Webex, allowing you to log in without signing up or filling out any forms.

    NB. Please do not create a free Webex account as there is no need for this and it may interfere with your account.

  4. Explore the new functionality

    Some new functionality you might discover includes direct and team chats, screensharing, emojis and GIPHYS, one-click, easy-to-join meetings, and simple file sharing.

    NB. If you need to step back into the Communicator or SmartConnect Desktop application you can do this until 1st of April 2022. However, please do not have both Communicator and Webex open at the same time as this may cause issues.
